Among the many Instagram trends that have taken over the social media app is one known as “bookstagramming.” As the name implies, this trend is simply all about taking pictures of books. Staged in whichever way the photographer would like, are books and often other aesthetically pleasing objects, or objects that are typically paired with books or reading, such as cups of tea or coffee, fairy lights, cats, etc. From these multitudes of accounts, I have selected one post from my top five favorite bookstagram users which i feel provide a good representation of the overall trend.

This is one of the first accounts I ever stumbled upon thanks to Instagram's new explore page feature, and to this day it is still one of my favorite pages to look at. This photo specifically fascinates me because I can't for the life of me figure out how she got all of the pages to stay perfectly positioned in this way.

The colors in this post were the first thing that really struck me, then, once I read the title of the book, the irony set in and that was all it took to seal the deal on making this photo a personal favorite.

As a cat owner myself, posts like this are a favorite of mine for the relatableness of it. If you've ever read a book around a cat, then you know how annoying they can be when they try to sit in your lap (where the book is) or rub their face on your book while you're trying to read it. While it's adorable in principle, it can definitely make reading a book quite a task.

When I first saw this post it made me do a double take, as it felt like something I would see on Tumblr or Pinterest. This post, and account in general, is a refreshing change up from your typical bookstagram accounts, in the fact that a lot of the posts are pictures of quotes on iPhone screens, or just incorporate the iPhone into pictures with books somehow. What I find most interesting about this account is the fact that it's run by a Polish female, however nearly everything is in English.

Maybe one day, when I'm done living in dorm rooms, or apartments the size of shoeboxes I'll be able to have a bookcase this full, but until then, I simply look at posts like this and admire the amount of time that must've gone into collecting and reading this many novels.
